A Glimpse of San Francisco ~ Carrianne Leigh

Hello Everyone!
Time has passed so very quickly. We leave fr Vietnam on Sunday ( which is my birthday-Jan 22) It's been such a blessing to be working along side the Battambang base here in Cambodia. I know for our team we have had allot of wonderful opportunities being here. Three of our students have been teaching at a public university and have even been asked to write a Christine curriculum so other students can teach off of it. So amazing!!! A couple weeks ago 8 people from our team went on a week long outreach to the villages by the beach about 10 hours away. We went with a youth group of about 12 kids. The first night we stayed at the YWAM base there which they only had room in the kitchen , so we pitched up our mosquito nets and awoke to about 3 people cooking at 5:30am the next morning. We ended up staying the rest of the nights at a guest house so we weren't in the way of their morning breakfast. We ended up going to about 4 different villages around the area and did a VBS sort of program for the kids. We taught them songs, verses, games and taught bible stories and even shared some testimonies. After a long week of playing with kids and walking around the family's huts to pray for people we were rewarded with a fun day at the beach. Our DTS group and the youth group that we went with became ' One family, in Jesus Christ.'At least that's the song we kept singing!!!!
What can I say it's been an exciting two months here in Cambodia and we don't look forward to leaving but we are very excited about Vietnam. Hope you all have a wonderful Jan 22 and think of me all day!!!!! (:

Hello everyone!!!!
Merry Christmas!!! I'm in Cambodia right now. It's been almost three weeks. I cant believe time has gone by so fast! Right now its "cold"season but to me its pretty hot still! We are all staying at the YWAM base and have been making friends with all the staff. Our ministries are so exciting! We get to be involved with amazing things here. I go every Monday,Thursday and Friday Mornings ( 9-12)with two of my students to the Village to teach English and bible stories to kids. We have so much fun teaching there, we all play soccer when the lesson is over. On Tuesday and Wednesday mornings (9-12) I go to an orphanage and play with the kids and have bible lessons too. In the evenings after lunch I teach two English classes at the youth center. I teach level 2 and level 9 English. We have a big test next week!!! (:

The students are involved with allot more ministries during the week.
Cambodia has been wonderful!!! I love riding my bike through Battambang to grab a coconut or a fried banana! Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!

Hello friends and family,

I am leaving in two days for three whole months!!!!

Yes, can you believe it's time for outreach!This Fall school has been amazing but has also gone by so fast. Our flight leaves Monday morning and we will be making a pit stop to Bangkok for one night ( I'm so excited I get to see some of my friends) Then we will be busing it over the boarder to Cambodia and staying at the YWAM base there for 2 months. We will work with YWAM and help teach English, play sports with kids and possible some flood relief stuff, since allot of south east Asia is flooded. On my birthday (Jan 22) We will be busing it over the boarder again ( different one though) to Vietnam and will stay in Saigon for a week then fly to Hanoi for the rest of the month!!!! I'll let you know what we do in Vietnam after we return safely (;

Hello all!

Everything with the DTS is going great. We are in our 8th week of lecture phase and we only have a month left before we leave for outreach. I’ve been really busy with the school and being in charge of communication and scheduling the Vietnam part of outreach.

Please keep me in your prayers. I am in need of the financial support of our outreach plane tickets.

Also my room mate Laura is getting married and will be moving out in April , so I am looking for more support so that I can hopefully live on my own in my apartment still.

I leave with my 9 students and 2 other staff to Cambodia and Vietnam on November 28th until February 16th Please keep me in your prayers !!!!!

God speaks but are we always willing to listen?

God's been doing some really awesome things in my life! So last week the speaker spoke on the character and nature of God. In this time God put on my heart to do a DTS equip. (which is a secondary school that teaches you to lead outreaches ..) I would have to leave my home (San Francisco) yet again for two more months. It feels like I just came back from two months over seas and now I'm leaving on another outreach in November for three months and God's trying to tell me to leave yet again for two more months.... come on God , I live here now!!! I have an apartment. church , friends and a community here. Well it's not all about me. God spoke to me during a lecture about sacrificing and giving something up to serve the Lord. Right then and there I felt like God was saying give up you " rights" and where I call you is your home. WOW... did that hit me... it was like the speaker was talking to only me!!! I gave my "home" up to God right there and then and went and told my directer , Steve that I was interested in the DTS equip. He was very excited and later told me that he's been praying for me and hoping that God would put that on my heart so I would be the one that would want to do a DTS equip. The next day I went out to coffee with my other Leader, Jason. I shared with him what God was speaking to me and how I am interested in doing a DTS equip to further my knowledge on how to lead DTS'. He was so excited and said that he had been praying for me because he wanted me to start LEADING outreaches to Thailand next Fall and that the DTS equip would help me and was a conformation to his prayers.

It's so amazing how God works. I am still blown away by all of this. ....but wait there's more.....

Steve pulled me aside later that day and told me that him and Jason talked and how he was really excited that God was speaking to all three of us about the same thing. Well he then went on to say what usually happens if your getting ready to staff an outreach is to lead a whole week by your self overseas .....That's kinda coming up in NOVEMBER!!!!! So, I will be in charge of planning the whole Vietnam part of outreach , flights,transportation, living arrangements and all of ministry and then for a week I will lead it by my self. I am really nervous and kinda scared by I know God's totally got my back.

It reminds me of when Moses took his people out of Egypt and when they started crying out to God when the Egyptians were coming after them. God said why are you standing there??... I've got your back , go forward!!!!! That's how I picture it, Gods saying I have your back just GO FORWARD!!!! I guess I'm in shock that all of this is happening so fast and all I had to do was trust God and let go of the things that I needed to give to Him...

This week we are reading about Joshua and Caleb how they had faith to come back to Moses and say we can take over the promise land... we can do this... and the 10 didn't want to face the giants and stay where they were content.... they weren't willing to go forward and they didn't have enough faith to believe and fallow where God is telling them to go. I am really nervous about the BIG plans God has for me in leading outreaches but do I have enough faith like Joshua and Caleb to go forward and trust in God????
YESSSSSS ! I am believing and TRUSTING and its going to be GREAT!!!!!!!!!

Friends!
I hope everyone is doing wonderful!
I am drinking a nice cold diet coke so I'm doing amazing! My friend who comes in to the base from time to time knows some of the girls like diet coke and buys us some every Friday, he likes to call it DC! hhaha..thought I would add that for fun.

I just got back from being in my friends wedding! It was a beautiful wedding at that! She has been one of my good friends (and supporters) for years. It was such a blessing to be able to be there for her on her special day and be a part of it as well. Her wonderful Aunt and Cousin picked me up on there way to Morgan hill 3 times for things like the wedding shower, bachelorette party and the actual wedding.... BIG thanks to them for the love and rides! (:

The DTS started on Monday. Alissa and I spent ALL day on Sunday picking people up from the airport...and when I say all day I mean from 8am-1am at night....driving around in circles at the airport!....we kinda lost a student...not really, she took a taxi to the base and spent the night here at YWAM SF but we didn't know and therefore we spent most of the night looking for her. I hate the airport now!!!! haha but this week has been fun introducing the students to the Tenderloin and letting them in on all the whats and what-nots to do!
We have 10 students . 5 girls and 5 guys ...first time its been even and not more girls. They all are very nice and I'm excited to see what God has in store for both them and myself!
Tomorrow I'm teaching on intercession and prayer walk!

Can you believe that September is coming up? I am writing a quick update on my lunch break so it wont be that long just wanted to make sure everyone knew whats going on ! (:

Last week was our staff retreat. We had Monday off and spent Tuesday meeting with our ministry's praying and fellow shipping ( we also ate lunch at a Thai restaurant YUM!) Wednesday we went to Tilden park in Berkeley and swam in the lake, played catch and some card games. Some staff left with a couple bee stings but all together it was a fun day!During the week we also had a couple speakers come and talk to us.

All this week we will be preparing for the Fall DTS to come, they get here Sept 12th. (:

We have as for right now 9 students and hopefully 10 by the time the school starts!

I'm getting excited ..... yay!!!!!!

Okay hope you all have a wonderful week, im a little sick but hopefully ill feel better by tomorrow

Hello everyone.

Well our two weeks of DTS training is over. I am excited for the next school to start. It's coming up pretty quick. We still have allot to do to prepare for their arrival but that usually doesn't happen until the week before they come! They should be getting here on September 12th. So far we have ten wonderful students. The last winter school was my first school ever that I helped staff. I know that God has grown me so much since then and showed me allot about myself. I am not worried about staffing this next school but really excited about what God's going to teach me next ! Please be praying for these ten students that God will prepare their hearts for what He's about to show them and what they are going to experience. I cant wait to walk along side of these students and grow while they grow. (:

Family,

Thank you all for committing longer with me in my ministry. It has been an amazing two years here in San Francisco serving the Lord and I love what God has in store for me. Working with DTS is very different from the youth in Mission Adventures and Traveling can be hard sometimes also, leaving your home that you have here to go away for two months. Don’t get me wrong going to places like Italy and Thailand is very wonderful but it is hard not having your own bed and living with 19 students. (: I love this life that Jesus has planned for me and I couldn’t be happier serving Him in a beautiful city.

Just a couple weeks ago Laura and I got invited to our friend’s birthday party. He was turning 35 years old and is a strong believer in the Lord. He loves going to his church in concord and telling others about Jesus. He also stops by the YWAM base to say hi to everyone because as he said in his testimony at his birthday party a couple weeks ago YWAM changed his life. He used to be a drug dealer outside of YWAM and he lived in San Francisco in a not so good lifestyle. He started coming into the Base and made friends with all the staff, there he gave his life to the Lord and stopped selling drugs and instead went to church and then school and now he’s a big shot at the place he works. He thanked Laura and I at his birthday party for loving the people that come into the YWAM base and showing God’s love. I felt like a movie star as he introduced us to all his family and church friends. It’s so easy to forget the lives that have changed because of our drop in center/ YWAM base. You sometimes get caught up in seeing the same old faces that come in everyday and the hopelessness in that but it was such a beautiful reminder that God does change lives and He did call YWAM to be in the Tenderloin and that He did call me to do missions in San Francisco.

It’s such a blessing to have friends that support me in something like this. I have enjoyed my time off in July to connect with some of you and see my family. Since the beginning of January I had been working the school and it ended 6 months later. This September I will be starting another school that will go until the end of February so July was pretty much my only time “off” to visit. But what’s time “off” when you’re serving the Lord (; I will update my blog every month (or try to) so please make sure you check it out. It might be my only communication to all you lovely supporters.

Hello everyone!
This week I started work again, we are in DTS staff training. Yesterday Breanna and I had ministry evangelism together. As we were walking down on Market we pasted by a flower stand with beautiful sunflowers. We thought how wonderful would that be to bless someone with a sunflower. We bought one and walked down to the piers. We saw a lady sitting by herself on a bench and felt like God wanted me to talk with her... just so happened shes visiting from Milan , Italy and I just came from there!!! We talked a bit and took our blessing but because she was touring San Francisco all day didn't accept the flower. So we had to find another person to bless! we came across another lady who was from Canada and Breanna talked with her, just so happened Breanna just came from Canada! God works in so many ways. They both were so excited that god had told us to bless someone with a flower and with only ONE flower we were able to bless two people (:
God's so cool like that!

Overseas DTS outreach and such...

Hello all,

I am in Gilroy right now visiting my wonderful friends and family! I cant believe its July already. This year has flown by so fast, maybe that has something to do with being overseas for two of those months but just as well it’s already been two years last month that I committed to YWAM. I know most of you know but I will be signing up for another two year commitment. I will be sending each one of my lovely supporters a nice letter so be looking for that in the mail (:

I bet most of you want to hear about my time over seas and how staffing this DTS went….lets just say God really grew me and I have learned so much.

One huge thing that I am so proud to share is that I really came to realized that God is my beloved and even if I fail or mess up He is never going to love me any less and I only grow in the hard times. Before I started DTS ( not trying to sound pompous) I was always good at what I did and I did my “jobs” well: AWANA, In N Out Burger,Mission Adventures and so on, but always learning new things. Going into DTS was a lot harder; you help disciple students and point them in Gods direction. But when things get hard, and you have 19 students that aren't all at the same stages of growth, you might blame yourself or even think that you failed at times… Well, I know this is simple, but Jesus will always love you and He is there holding you up. And where some things that I wasn’t always good at may have crushed me before, but I really accepted that doing a good job isn't where my value is- it's in Jesus. Now that I have realized that, even when something isn't always perfect, I know that I have to put my value in Jesus and not always being perfect, because I will fail, but Jesus won't let that crush who I am. :)

Wow…. now that I shared just a snip-it of what I learned, I’ll share with you what our team did in Turkey and Italy!

We left for Istanbul, Turkey in the beginning of April. Half the team stayed in Altintepe and half in Kadikoy, which is about a 45 minutes drive in a blue bus. We did a lot of things separate from each other (our two groups) that just worked out better for transportation costs. Our team was staying in an apartment that our local missionary's there supplied for us. In Turkey, the people are very quiet, and most of them are Muslim, so about seven times a day the ‘call to prayer’ would go off. In every neighborhood throughout Turkey there were Mosques that played the‘call to prayer’ and it would last about five minutes or so. So we had to be extra quiet in the apartment we stayed at, and even on the streets and buses when the ‘ call to prayer’ would sound. We did a lot of English teachings,random park ministry and visited the gypsies, café and university ministry's where we met a lot of people and built wonderful friendships with people working there and studying. But most of our time was spent doing a city prayer walk over all of Istanbul!!! We really wanted to walk all through Istanbul proclaiming Jesus' city back, and we did! It took us about 3 weeks , 8 hours a day sometimes, but man was it worth it. We ended on one of the Island mountains and worshiped and sang for Jesus, which was amazing because you can't mention God, Jesus or anything like that. We also got the opportunity on Easter to climb that same hill and help pass out tracks and Bibles in Turkish. You can only do this once a year, and that day is very huge for all Turkish people. So many Turks come from all over to go to the island and pray to the gods and get luck for things. They take thread and walk up the hill and how far you go before it runs out is how much luck they get. We were so blessed to be a part of this special time that only happens once a year and the missionary's there plan for all year long. We handed out so many Bibles and some people were able to talk to the local missionary's there and ask questions about Jesus and such. It was a wonderful month in Turkey and God did some amazing things there.

Rome and Milan, Italy!

Here are some FUN pictures. Colliseum, Gelato, Travi of love fountain and the lie telling mouth!…Just some famous things of Roma that I wanted to share first!

Roma was amazing, so many beautiful, artistic buildings and statues. I could have stayed there for the whole month. (: Everywhere we went was beautiful, so I felt like a tourist, but we did a lot of prayer mapping, walking around all of Rome and writing down what the certain areas were about and what churches we saw and things like that. We also Prayer walked and did a lot of piazza ministries, and the guys got to do stuff with the refugees. The piazza ministries were my favorite. They are all so beautiful and I made a lot of friendships with the guys selling things. One man that my group and I made friends with makes necklaces from peoples names out of wire. At our last day he made me one (: I love it! We had pizza every day for lunch and our team took turns cooking different kinds of pasta for dinner.

MILAN!!!! We actually stayed in this little town next to Milan.

We took a train to Milan and only half the team went and the other half went to Aquaveva. We slept in a tent outside behind the church and was greeted with the friendliest bunch of Italians ever! People from the church took us to their homes to take showers and they cooked for us. It was amazing- REAL Italian food! A team from Australia and a crazy bunch of Brazilians were there to help with this 5 day event. We started out with 24 hour prayer and fast. We took teams out and prayed for the whole town, walking up and down each street praying all hours of the night for each home. Then the next day we started knocking on doors, inviting them to the concerts and events that night that we were having at different piazzas and at the church. It was an amazing 5 day event! They really know how to celebrate 30 years at that church!!!! That was only the first five days there... the rest of the time we took trips into Milan and prayer walked and talked to people in the Piazzas. We also spent a lot of time getting to know the youth of the church. We were the first team that really connected with them, and when it was time to leave, it really was hard for all of us to say good bye! I wouldn’t mind sleeping on folding lawn chairs or going days without a shower again just to visit and reconnect with all our Italian friends some day! It was a wonderful blessing to be welcomed by the church, and because of our stay, they are looking into hosting more YWAMer's there in the future, and investing in a better place for the teams to take showers and sleep, but I didn’t mind so much!!! (:

We returned to the US at the beginning on June and spent another month on outreach here in San Francisco. We stayed at the Hunter's Point House and had different ministries throughout the city. We really made a lot of friendships through our ‘park ministries, and got to try out new ways to connect better with the different types of people living in the city! The students graduated last Thursday and even though it was sad to say our goodbyes, I really am excited to see what they do next. For the students, DTS isn't the end, but just a stepping stone- the beginning of what God wants them to do. It was my first Discipleship Training School that I helped to lead, and I really learned a lot myself. God is so good. Right before I left for my outreach, Laura (my YWAM roommate) and I moved into our own apartment in the Tenderloin area, just a couple of blocks from the base, and I am looking forward to setting up and spending some time there during my time off before beginning my ministry again!

Thank you for helping me be a part of discipling these young men and woman who are choosing to go out and follow what God has in store for them. It really was an amazing 6 months and God did AWESOME stuff. Of course I couldn’t write all of what happened while we were overseas, so if you have questions or want to hear more, I will have a little more free time for a couple of weeks, as we have a few ‘staff recovery’ weeks. (: Funny!!!

I'm back in San Francisco!

I just spent the last two months in Istanbul, Turkey and Italy, Rome&Milan! They were both amazing in their own ways. I am still on outreach here. Theres a couple groups doing ministry and my group is doing all sorts of crazy stuff. We have only done one day so far but I am still very busy and living at the YWAM house in Hunters point.

I would love to write all about the outreach overseas, so when I have about five days to process and write about two months worth of GOD stuff I will get right back on here to update you all!!!!!

Hello Family, Can you believe our Winter DTS is on our 7th week.??? I cant, and I'm working the school.(:

Well we leave in less then a month for Rome and Turkey, wow!! I will be over seas from April 6th-June 11th and then we have a month of San Francisco outreach in the city, we are looking into all 23 ( this doesn't count Jason and Justine and the new born babe) of us living in Bay view, Hunters point which will be really nice to have the team together under one roof after being over seas.

This school hasn't been easy, I didn't know that I was pretty much doing another DTS!!! Who knew God was going to bring up so much in my life as well as the students!!! It's been so awesome but also hard . I have four girls that each week I do One on One's with and a small group , along with class time and staff meetings! It's sometimes hard manging my time. But God is showing me allot through all of this. I think our hardest week as a team was Dow's week on "hearing God's voice" This week is so powerful for the students because they learn how to hear God's voice and the enemy I guess doesn't like that very much- that week we had 2 students in the hospital, a uncle die, 2 grandparents get diagnosed with cancer and my daddy have two heart attacks. But the enemy didn't win, we learned so much more that week and it was so amazing to see everyone come together in times of prayer and intercession with Jesus!! The next week was learning about Spiritual warfare...go figure!!! (: Last week Jerry came and taught on forgiveness, forgiving others and forgiving yourself. Almost all the students went up in front of everyone and confessed sins to Jesus and Forgave people ... doing this in front of 3 or more , let alone the whole class was very hard but I am very proud of everyone who stood before the Lord to do these things. We all felt so much better after that and so much lighter, Jesus really does forgive us and He loves us that much!!!! AND that is why peter came this week to talk about the CROSS!!!! How powerful this subject is. He just finished his book that he's been threatening to publish for years now. It's a book about his fathers story and .... well its just such a wonderful book. Hello dear friends!
I am SO excited for DTS to start! Can you believe all my 19 students come this Monday???!!
It's going to be such a good time, not just for the students to grow but for me as well! (: I cant wait! They will be here for 3 1/2 months during our lecture phase, where speakers from all over the world teach on different subjects.2 months over seas , where our focus for winter school is Turkey and Rome and then when we return one last month of outreach in our home sweet home of San Francisco! Yesterday we prayed over the 12 girls to see who of our 4 girl staff would take on in the small group times. We all prayed and re-prayed and finally picked our ' small group' girls. I have 4 lovely girls that I will have in my small groups which means every week ( besides class time and ministry time) I will have a special time set aside for each girl, we call this our ' one on one's' and hopefully I will be there for them whenever and grow along side them. But I am still looking forward in getting to know our other 15 students as well.

We went to Target and Chinatown to get welcome gifts for all the students! We bought San Francisco mugs filled with candy and a little cute something inside. Color crayons and two color books for each room and lets just say a tub of cheese balls was a wonderful add to the welcome gifts!!! (:

Well lately in the Ellis room (our drop in center) there has been allot less fighting, and Laura thinks that's because they know almost everyone that comes in! Which is wonderful because they are therefore respecting us here. The Ellis room is understaffed which makes it allot harder on them. sadly one of our staff, Adam is leaving for home to work off his debts he has from school. I know the Ellis room will detriment from that.

Our dear friend David who comes into the Ellis room recently committed his life to the Lord. He is in our awesome 360 program and I thought it would be awesome to have him just write a little about how its going and what he's been doing !!!!

Happy new year everyone!
I hope you all enjoyed the Holiday season! I know I had a wonderful time!

Christmas eve my parents picked me up (aren't they awesome) and we went to Christmas eve dinner at my aunts house. It was so exciting to see everyone. All the cousins got a cute little basket full of cookies for Christmas! (: I had a great Christmas at my parents house and we enjoyed Christmas dinner at Denny's... don't judge! It was a wonderful Holiday grand slam!(: heheh!

I had a whole week of Christmas vacation spent at home with friends and family! It was really good spending some time with my nephews and getting to know Tyler, he's three and can say my name perfect!

I got to bring in the new year with some friends and make soap ...new years eve soap with my mom...it was really exciting!
Just a heads up my birthday is coming up.....Jan 22, so mark your calenders...I'll be having a post up in a couple of days telling what I would like! HAHAHa Just kidding! The DTS school starts Jan 24Th so that's coming up and I'm so happy! YAY!

I was looking through my very cluttered in box and just re-read an email that a lovely young lady wrote to me and my Mission Adventure staff after she spent her spring break here last April! I thought this was such an answer to everything we do here...like the whole goal and reason why I live here and wanted to be a part of Mission Adventures so that our youth would see the need and want to serve our Lord in doing Missions as well.

"Dear Carrieanne (I hope that's how you spell it), Mikel, and Tia;

I wanted to tell you all thank you so much for everything you did for us, that would be Element
Youth group ( I think we were your last group and our youth leaders name was Dustyn), over our
spring break. It was amazing! One of the most impactful weeks of my life and one of the best. At first
I could not understand why God wanted me to go. I mean my boyfriend was not going and it was
spring break and I had a ton to do. But now I know why I was there. Thank you so much! It has
changed my life and made me actually pray and consider becoming a missionary in my uncertain
future. Before spring break I was in my own box, thinking I would just get married and do whatever,
never thinking of outreaching. Isn't that weird? God doesn't just want us sitting around. Which leads
me to tell you guys that God used you to show me that I will do something amazing for Him. I am not
sure what yet though. Anyway I remember in the beginning when we got there and Carrieanne found out I was 18 and offered me to get an application for DTS. The first thought that came to my mind was no way would I do that. I barely am going to get through this week. But after Thursday, I could not believe I thought
that and now I miss you all and serving there so much that I would apply. But I can't because I am
going to be a camp counselor over the summer. So I just wanted to say you guys opened my heart to what my potential is to do to serve and a lot more. And this might sound strange but I was wondering if there was a way I could talk to Carrieanne more because I had a lot to say. so if I could get her email or anything that would be great.I love you guys and miss you"

Greetings,
I have some fun and exciting news!!! Well after allot of prayer and consideration I have decided to commit another two years to serving the Lord here in San Francisco. This time it will be a little different because I am changing ministry's and will be working with the DTS ( disciple ship training school program) I will be starting a little before my two years would be up ( June) and will be leading the coming up January Winter school! This is such a blessing, I have been praying and felt like God has been saying two things....one was for sure to work with the DTS and the other was to stay another two years, well since I got accepted to jump aboard with the DTS crew I had to commit to at least two schools... that meant God answered both of my questions in one and how excited am I to be able to walk along side the the students and grow with them in this next season! We already have 15 students which is such a blessing in it's self because usually the winter school only has about 5 students signed up.

Thanksgiving is coming up and I am thrilled to spend the day here in the Tenderloin with all my friends and family. It will be my third Thanksgiving here and every year all the staff, DTS students and interns get to invite two guests that don't have a home of their own to spend Thanksgiving with us! Last year we had around 90 people to share this special day with, we are assuming there will be a little more joining this year because our numbers have increased since then. What a blessing (:

Please be praying for me that I will be a good listener and able to grow in my walk with God and be able to learn new things with the DTS. Also that support will grow and not weaken for my next two years.
There's another need that is kinda embarrassing to ask for but my little acer laptop has seen it's better days and I am hoping that God will provide me with an upgrade....yes I am turning to the dark side and want a mac , please pray that God will provide me with one ..maybe for Christmas? Family & Friends,

Hope all is well! We had our first rain storm this last weekend; I realized I’m in need of a rain jacket. (: Also we had a team here too, they were so awesome and not just cuz they bought me ‘Philz’ coffee. Hehe!

They came an extra day which meant they got to experience our homeless plunge day, I kicked them out at 6 am like the shelters do to homeless and they have to stand in line at Glide and St. Anthony’s for Breakfast and Lunch. This activity isn’t meant for the team to pretend to be homeless but to experience what its like to be homeless, they also can’t go into any shops or places homeless can’t go into even for bathrooms. They had a blast and I enjoyed hearing all the stories from each group. My two interns and new staff for Mission adventures are catching on real quick with leading teams … so proud (:

Please keep me in your prayers for I have an opportunity to help lead the winter school DTS this coming up January, which means stepping out of Mission Adventures department and starting something new. I’m very excited but we still need Mission Adventure staff to comment to leading spring teams until I can know for sure I will be doing DTS. Winter school outreach focuses on Rome and Turkey.

Also please pray for my friends Luke, Adam and Michael who attend my church IKON, their whole building burnt down which means they lost everything and is in need of ….well everything! This happened last Tuesday at 5am in the morning. THANKS!

FALL FALL FALL...i love october

I very much enjoyed my time off I spent in Morgan hill. Thank you , for those of you who were able to make it to my dessert party. When I was home on my vacation I was able to talk about what I have been doing the past year and what my ministries are, I hope you all have a better idea of what it looks like now. (:

When I returned home, here in San Francisco, I was greeted with 2 interns from Westmont and a new staff member that will be working with Mission Adventures. What a blessing that is to have them here and allot of pressure of me just working teams by myself.
This past weekend we had our first team , we only had 7 students but it was still a fun packed weekend. We spent our Saturday morning serving Breakfast at Glide , that was honestly my favorite thing that day because I got put as the greeter and hand people the trays of food. I felt like I was working at IN N OUT again. hehehe (: We also got to go down to Powell street and set up our prayer station, this activity was the hardest for the kids, but they were very bold in their faith and kept on asking tourists, shoppers, homelessness and giants fans if they would like prayer... very proud of them. We did sack lunches, street cleaning , prayer walks and hot chocolate ...we ended the day with eating at Chutneys, the best Indian restaurant in the TL!

Well I am super excited for fall, as soon as I got back from my trip we had a heat wave here in San Francisco, it was crazy...so I'm now ready for some October drizzle. (: Hope you all have a great fall. Enjoy!

There's been so much happening that it seems like ages since I last wrote...
Last Sunday we had a wonderful bake sale at Daloris park to raise money for our staff camping trip which is at the end of this month. We baked all night Saturday, making all kinds of goodies..such as Walnut chocolate dipped cookies, peanut butter cookies, Carmel apples, snicker brownies , lemon bars and much more. It was such a beautiful day out and a successful bake sale at that. Made around $200 for our camping trip(: Yay.....

Next week is our last week of teams for the season which sadly means my lovely Summer of service staff will be leaving soon. We are having a goodbye dinner on Saturday night to thank them for such a wonderful summer of service(: I will miss them. On Friday night at the Sugar cafe here in San Francisco we are having a fundraiser and silent auction to raise money for our Ellis room and our new ministry 360. The Ellis room , as many of you know is our drop in center ( at our ywam building ) that's open to the public Monday-Friday. 360 is another ministry connected to the Ellis room that we are just starting up. It's meant to be a discipleship program for some of the regulars that have been coming into our base for years and we have built relationships with. Please be praying that this auction will go well and that we can get the funds needed to provide a wonderful ministries for our friends. Also if you want to come and join in on the fun, 20% of all drinks and food will be given to our ministries at YWAM SF. How exciting is that?!!!

Hello everyone,
I hope everyone had a wonderful June! Mine was wonderful and so far July is looking to be just as nice as last month. I have really enjoyed our summer teams that have come through here and our summer staff are doing AMAZING! Since I have been leading teams for a year now , it's been really nice to be overseeing the teams and letting the sos (summer of service staff) lead. They are such a good bunch of students...we have another kitchen summer staff joining us this week that will help out a lot with our 90+ students that are eating here. (: Last weekend two of our staff members got married, Katie one of my DTS leaders looked beautiful walking down the aisle! We danced all night long... my favorite song was party in the usa! heheh! The wonderful thing about last week was everyone was back...all my good friends, it was sooo nice to see everyone.

I really enjoy getting to go back home on some weekends. I loved seeing everyone and having a wonderful 4th of July in the most awesome town ever....what a blessing that I live so close to home to get to return on my days off. I LOVE YOU ALL!

I know that it's been a year but because some of my supporters were committed just for a year I'm asking if you all could pray about financially supporting me. (: Thank you for all your love and prayers!

Summer!
Well everyone, summer has started! My short term summer staff are here, we have had one full week already of training and this week is training as well. We kicked it off with a big Hawaii theme welcome party... it was super! Next Monday summer officially starts for us because that's when our first team arrives for the season. I am very excited to teach my summer staff. They are so wonderful and such a great bunch. We have six so far and two late arrivals come in a couple of weeks. It's going to be an awesome summer.

I changed rooms a couple of weeks ago, I am now roommates with my dear friend Laura and am located in room 14 next to the laundry room. Our winter DTS should be returning home on Saturday but sadly we have lost a few loved ones.... Amanda Evens my darling friend since my DTS has left to join LAs Vegas' ywam team and Jake and Amanda - Our part time staff will be leaving us to return home to Texas on Wednesday. So sad! :( I miss them all already!

I have been her for a year now.... on June 20th will be my 1 year mark... wow.... I love it here more everyday, Yes I miss my family and friends and even Morgan Hill but I couldn't see myself anywhere but here. I know God's blessed me so much just being here... I have life good...and I'm a missionary... hahahah (:

We started every Monday night a community night with all our friends that come into the storefront, we have dinner and fellowship and it's been great. It's ending for a couple months while our busy Mission Adventure schedule starts up but its been so wonderful to have it.
I love that YWAM has different ministries within itself but when community night goes on we can all join in with the people we love in the storefront and have family time together!

I feel like Gods telling me this season to pursue Him more and dig deeper into the word more, which means giving up 'free' time to be with Him and read the bible more. So if y'all don't mind to pray for me that I will do what He told me to do. (: LOVE YOU ALL and thanks for everything you all do.

Hey everyone,
Guess what? A short time ago I wrote about spring teams starting and how I'm looking forward to that....well spring teams are over now and summer is just around the corner. We have had some interesting things going on around the base. Last month one of our staff members heart just stopped beating in the middle of work. Some of our staff performed CPR on her and shortly after she was rushed to the hospital and had heart surgery, she is doing better now but still recovering at her sisters house in LA. This was really scary for us who work here, also, it made us realize we should all be certified in a CPR course.

Just this last week about 30 people flew and drove in for a WAVES , Mission adventures conference. Each year the northern bases gather up for a conference to talk about mission adventures and how we can better serve the students that come to our bases. Every other year we have a WAVES conference internationally , last year they went to Germany. ( I came a month after so I missed that little gathering.. ) It was really exciting to see other people going through the same things that you go through during MA. Monday I spent all day picking people up from the airport and preparing for the conference. Then we spent Tue-Fri 7am-10pm in conference meetings,ministries,praying and worshiping. It was a fun filled week. Tomorrow Tia and I are meeting Kaitlyn in Southern California for the Urban Youth Workers conference for a week. When I return I will have 2 weeks until my Summer of service staff get here.I'm super excited for the short term summer staff. I am the coordinator this year and as time is getting near it is seeming more and more real.

Hope all is well. Please keep Mission Adventures in your prayers: that God will bring the right staff and summer of service short term staff here and that God will prepare these students hearts before they come this summer. We will have around 100 students each week during the summer. WOW! Prayer for my family that they will find a more stable place to live and for my monthly income to increase as well as I will be more focused with my gifts God gave me.

Pushing forward, leaving your sins that hold you back from pursuing God.....and FORWARD we go in our walks with Christ!

Our theme this year has been wonderful so far, last night I witnessed 50 students "pushing forward" in their walks with God. Every Thursday night we have 'expressions' which used to be called commitment service, but we like the call it CRY NIGHT. There we have a couple different stations that the students can go to.

The cross, this is where people can write down anything they feel like giving to God and they actually can nail it to the cross.
We have mirrors on the wall that you can look into and see how God really sees you.
We have a foot washing station
Journals that past teams have written in and you can see what people have written and you yourself can write a journal entry.
A coffin that is filled with water with stones on the side that you can write that thing that might be holding you back from pursuing God and throw it into the water-filled coffin, it actually disappears and you can see how God just washes those old things away like the water did to the stones.
*this is a new addition to expressions night because of our theme.

I watched a team last night resolve things with God , each other and past things that held them back. We all held hands at the end in a huge circle and prayed about the things that they just gave to God.

I read through the journals of past teams that some date back from 06 and wrote down all the cry/prayers to God so that I can pray for those students in my quite time later that week. It's so wonderful to see students come here week after week to serve the people of the city.

Spring and wonderful friends

SPRING HAS ARRIVED!
Well we are finally here, and to think it's been 9th months since I have been on staff... each time I write I will probably write how long Ive been on staff, haha! So spring is here, I should know; I had to set my clock forward and wake up an extra hour. Well I got to spend an amazing weekend with my mother&father in Morgan Hill for my moms birthday, I brought Laura ( my best ywam friend) with me. We had a wonderful time...thanks parents! So week long teams started officially 2 weeks ago. I also started going to a new church, its so great, allot of youth full people go there.. and I made some really wonderful friends from there.

So Laura, Adam and I have started a really great friendship with a guy who comes into the Ellis room, ( our drop in center) let's call him 'John'. John came here with the intentions of jumping off the bridge and ending his life. He made some friends and decided to postpone his visit to the Golden Gate bridge. He sometimes comes over after closing hours and we watch movies with him. His birthday we made him a cake ( Adam and Laura..I can't bake) and had him over for dinner and a movie... we have a great opportunity to witness to him. He started coming to our bible studies on Wednesday afternoons also. He pinkie promised us that he will not visit any famous bridges here for at the rest of the year. Please keep him in your prayers , our wish is that he will get a job and start having something to live for ... Jesus!

My Thailand trip...

That's hello in Thai! [:
Well allot has happened in this month of January! I left for Thailand on the 10th and returned on the 20th. IT WAS AMAZING! I flew in and joined up with the DTS that were there on there outreach. I was very thankful to see all my Thai friends from last year. (and some new ones too) It was like I was never was gone. I got to hangout with the BJD girls and boys again and enjoyed playing sequence and ultimate uno every night with them. We did allot of the same ministry work as I did last year, such as teaching English, campus work and working in the slums. I was so sad to leave my sisters and brothers in Thailand but knowing that I will return made it allot easier to say goodbye. Thailand is so wonderful, the people have an amazing heart and I am praying about one day working with the YWAM base there. SOOO another exciting thing that happened on January 22nd was my 22ndGOLDEN birthday!!! I had an amazing time here with my friends and got allot of FB comments witch made me happy, so thank you for all the love~!

Mission Adventures has been going well and some week-long teams are coming up soon, so I will be very busy running the teams and the ministry. (:
GOD is wonderful and is so good. Thank you to all my supporters for giving me the opportunity to serve Him in SF and the wonderful people in Thailand as well! God bless and have a wonderful rest of your January! (:

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Well well looks like it's that time again for an update! It was last year since I last have. HAHAHA!!
So I am actually sitting here on my couch in good ol Morgan Hill.
I have been here for 10 days and return back to San Francisco tomorrow after church.
Even though I have enjoyed my time here relaxing and spending it with my friends
and family I can not wait return home. As soon as I get in I have to start planning for the summer ,
I will be in charge of a program
Summer of service, I will be in charge of training young adults who will be leading teams just
as I do but for the summer. I will also be getting ready for my trip to Asia. As many of you already
know I will be flying out January 10th-20th to
meet up with the fall DTS of '09 and be a part of everything they do ministry wise. Even though
San Francisco is my calling, part of my heart belongs to Asia, therefor I will take any opportunity to
return back to Thailand, Bangkok.
I am very excited and I know that God will do many things though this trip.
I can not wait to reconnect with all my Thai friends that I was so blessed to meet last year.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

hi everyone,

i have been so busy, Mission Adventure Teams every week and it's a lot of work, but it's been a blast! so much has been going on that time just kept flying by and i just realized i hadn't blogged in a long time. i hope everyone had a great thanksgiving with their families and friends! we had a wonderful time here at the base.. my mom and dad came up and had thanksgiving dinner with us! most of the staff and DTSers invited one local person to dinner, so we had about 70 + people here! it was really great with lots of food and desserts. there were at least 7 different types of turkeys, huge pans of potatoes, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole (yum!), corn casserole (thanks, mom!), two different Tofurkeys, vegan gravy , rolls... i baked 3 pies and loads of other sweet things- and oh yeah, can't forget the great coffee and flavored creamers! mom and dad brought bags of persimmons from home and branches of rosemary bushes and i had candles, so we decorated all the dinner tables really pretty! we had a wonderful prayer before dinner, and my parents got to meet a lot of my street friends here, as well as other YWAM staff members. after, we all went to a nearby park and played football! well, i didn't play football, i played on the monkey bars! anyway, i got to go back home with my family until Tuesday evening, when they brought me back to the city- my new home! it was a great thanksgiving, and i have so much to be thankful for! hope yours was great! :)

baby Rhyder update: his heart surgery was scheduled for dec 1, but it was postponed and will now be done this tues, dec 8. please pray for him! :)

Today the new DTS group will be doing their outreach in viet nam and thailand, just like i did for my DTS last year. i had an opportunity to go for 2 weeks in january, so i am going to thailand!! i will be doing everything the DTS are going to be doing - ministry work ,with the local YWAM group that i got to spend time with last year. i am so excited because i truly fell in love with that beautiful country and the beautiful people there, too! i wanted to let everyone know something... when i started my 2 yr commitment in june, i sold my car. i put that money in the bank, and have used it occasionally for some 'extra' things i have needed while i was here. one of the things i've used my money on is my trip to thailand. since it's a personal choice for me to go, i didn't want to burden my sponsors- everyone who supports me already has been so generous and i appreciate every one of you- and every single dollar you give to support me and my ministry! i love doing this, and i couldn't do any of it without you! i did want you all to know, though, how i was paying for this trip, because i didn't want there to be any concern as to how i was spending your finances. anyway- i just wanted to be upfront and let you all know what's going on and stuff like that!!

Hello everyone,
Since I last wrote, a lot has happened. I started working the Mission Adventure (MA) teams all by myself, and it's really exciting. I work weekends from Fridays thru Sundays. Last Sunday while out with my team, we saw my old Sunday school teacher while passing out homeless sack lunches .... Miss.Debbie! ( she wasn't homeless, nor is she old! hehe) She was on her way to see Wicked at the civic center. (: So with my new schedule, I now have Thursdays off. Last Thursday was really tough. We always have food pantry on Thursdays, and my friend Rachel and I always deliver two boxes- one to a lady and the other to a man; neither of them can walk very well. We set aside a box for each of them and then deliver it to them after the pantry is over. Last week we went to the mans house- his name is Don ....we didn't get an answer and after talking to the hotel manager they gave us the key to his room. They figured he had been away for several days and we could leave his food on the counter. We walked in to find that Don had passed away. It was really hard to realize he was dead, and to walk in and find him like that was terrible for both of us. Don had shared a lot about his life with us, and we were able to pray with him often, as well as just let him talk and be his friend. I know I'm really going to miss him and his stories of serving in the Viet Nam war. I didn't really know how to deal with it and it's been kinda hard on me, but God and my family and my friends here really got me through it. This Thursday's food pantry was really fun though. We had a couple of celebrities come and help us out. One of my favorites was David Arquette, from Scream, Never Been Kissed and 8 Legged Freaks!!!

It was really cool. (:
So right now, I'm a little sick with a chest cold, but hopefully that will go away by this weekend before my teams get here. Fall is here and thats my favorate season. I LOVE FALL....I bought 4 mini pumpkins and decorated my room very nice and AUTUMN-ISH!!

Hello everyone,
So starting in October I will be running MA teams with Kaitlyn. It will just be her and I and it looks like it will be really busy. BUT I am so looking forward to starting MA up again. All of October-December is filled up already.(: The new DTS for fall 09 are here.... It's really strange to think that it's been a year already since MY DTS last fall.I'm so excited for all of them, because I know how great DTS was for me! Yay.

I'm growing some pumpkins, peas and carrotts outside my window ....they are starting to grow and Im sooooo excited. yay!!!!

Please keep me in your prayers and make sure you pray for baby ryder as well. He has a hole in his heart and will need surgery at 3 months. Also a boy on the DTS needs to get his green card in order to go on his outreach ...please keep him in your prayers along with me and ministry starting back up in October. Thank you.

One day when I was in there I noticed that there was nothing on the walls that indicated we were a Christian organization...and that made me a little worried , so I went out and bought some canvasses and a couple people helped me paint them and wrote really pretty scriptures on them. They are now in the store front and even a Mexican man was looking up in his bible to translate the verses! (: How wonderful the Ellis room/storefront looks now!

Well for the month of September there is no MA groups coming. They begin again in October, and then it's just Kaitlyn and I leading these weekend groups. I'm a little nervous that I might get burned out but also excited to be leading teams again. God will do so much work in these students lives just being here. Now who wouldn't be excited for that?????

So the last week in August was really exciting for me, I got to go on the yearly staff camping trip/ retreat thing. It's just once a year where all the staff can get away from the city and focus on God and be together as group. We went camping (: SO FUN!!! Then the same week baby Rhyder was born ....so I got to go visit him that weekend.... YAY for babys!

It's been so wonderful and such a blessing to be here.

Hello everyone!Things are going wonderful here. I am enjoying being on staff here so much! I got to lead a MA team for the first time last week. A team of 22. They got to experience different ministry's like Hot chocolate night, homeless sack lunch, homeless plunge , prayer walks ,serving food at ST. Anthony's and a couple other really awesome ones! The homeless plunge is really neat because they get to experience first hand on what it feels like to stand in line at Glide for food and be kicked out at 6am until4pm with only bus fare for 1 way. I really enjoyed leading this team, and it wet really well. It was the last team for the summer until October when only Kaitlyn and I will be leading teams of about 50.

I cant wait to start running teams on my own. I also have allot of background/office work to do until teams start again.

Last Thursday evening I got to return home after the teams left for the weekend! It was so nice to enjoy my weekend at my 1st home in Morgan Hill. I got to see baby Tyler and Catrina before she gives birth next week, also my mom and dad!!!! (:
It was wonderful. Next week is the staff camping trip, that should be really fun and I'm SO looking forward to it !

HEY!!!!
So it's already August. Crazy!!! Things are going very well here, so thats great!!! (:
This week there are no MA teams coming so its kinda peaceful. I still have allot of office work to be doing and also working in the storefront/the Ellis room, SO much better then the kitchen. HAAHA! But I'll work were God needs me... lol! Saturday BJM ( because Justice matters ) put on a womans day chin dig. It was so neat, a whole bunch of woman came and we had booths for different things, some was for ice cream, nails, massages, making bead neckless and other fun things for woman. It was just a nice place for woman to come and feel good about themselves . Then later that day my friends came over from MH and we hung out and went to the giants game. #55. WONDERFUL! It was a good game and great to show off the TL to my friends!Today after work a small group of girls and I went over Karol's house and made scones ....SO YUMMIE....homemade blueberry and chocolate chip ones. They were wonderful. It was so fun! Well ta ta for now!

HELLO everyone!!!!
Happy Sunday! Well I haven't been on in awhile , I'm sorry about that. I have been super busy lately. I have had kitchen duty last week and I'm in there again this week also. It's not east cooking for over 100 Mission adventure students. I'm also in there wired hours so I don't get much sleep. 6am-10am and then back again at 2:30-7 for dinner. I take naps in between being in the kitchen and then it's hard falling asleep at a decent hour so I end up being sooooo tired in the morning. STRANGE! Last Friday we went to the apartment building down the street where all the old Chinese and Rushan people live. We had a ice cream party and played BINGO! It was so much fun, they love that game!!!! Since I have the loudest voice there I was the one to spin the wheal and call out the number.... B7.... it reminded me of 'My Girl' the movie. Well I better get going into the kitchen. Those kids are hungry!!!

Hello everyone!
So basically I love being here. Its been awesome so far. I work a lot in the store front so I am getting to know a lot of these people. I baked a cake for a man named Marty today. It was his birthday and he was so excited to have a cake. (: I wish you could have seen his face ! Every week a new MA team comes . Every Tuesday they put on a party in the store front and serve all the homeless people spaghetti and have music for them and everything. It's wonderful. We also have the "food pantry " for all the residence people in the TL. I love working these days! (: It makes my week amazing. I'm doing a lot of office work and doing "behind the scene " stuff for MA!
My friend from my DTS works on staff in Oregon and he's here for the week with his MA kids. It's nice to see him again.

HELLO FRIENDS AND FAMILY!!!!!
How was your 4th of July? I hope everyone had a great weekend! This week went by so fast. I'm still working on small projects to learn more about staffing on MA but mostly I am in the store front. It is very wonderful working in the storefront because I have made lots of friendships with these people that come in everyday! I am having a very great time here, It is my third week and it's wonderful.I have missed home a couple of times, I mean who wouldn't miss Morgan Hill on 4th of July??!!! Well I believe next week I will be working the teams. (:

HAHA! It's been fun decorating and setting things up to make it my new home.
Well last week was just learning the basic staff stuff and also doing a few things Tia (MA leader)wanted to teach me! It has been a great first week and I LOVE it here! I usually have a meeting or worship in the morning from 8-9 then work from 9-12 and take an hour lunch then finish working till 5! Then I get the weekends of unless I work a team.(: I haven't fount a church I really like yet~ but theres so many to try out each week. I will put up pictures of my room. Hope you like! HI!!!!
So it is Thursday night! I have been here for 5 days and have really enjoyed it so far! I just moved into my FINAL room! I decorated it and made it look like MY room. I'm totally moved in and it has been a wonderful and crazy week! I did started work Monday and right now I'm just getting trained on the basic staff work and then in the next couple weeks I will be getting trained on MA staffing! I am already working on file work for MA so it's been really wonderful! (: I LOVE IT HERE!!!! It has been great getting to see some old friends in the store front and at the Food pantry! Okay I love and miss everyone!

HEllo everyone!!!!!!
Well I am here.... sweet home San Fransisco!!!! I got here yesterday around 4pm .It was hard saying goodbye to my momma and dadda but it was so nice returning back here! Everyone helped me bring all my boxes and bags up to my room. (: I love my new family here, they are all so wonderful and welcoming. For the first couple of hours I meet the summer staff for MA ( mission adventures ) .They are called the SOS.Hahha~
I also helped with dinner and even joined in ..Yum! (:
Right after I got there 4 teams of mission adventures came and I got to kinda see how things are run...I officially start Monday ! It's been nice just settling in and seeing how things work before I start! I am very excited to start Monday (: YAY!!!! I am staying in a room with another girl, Angelia -shes super sweet and we shared a pot of coffee together with my NEW COFFEE MAKER~ thanks to my mom!!!! (: well we are just roommates for a week until I permanently move in with Kaitlyn. That will be next week , so I'm still living out of boxes and bags. lol

I LEAVE TOMORROW!!!!! I'm getting really excited! I don't start my 'job' until Monday but I really need to have a day or two to unpack and settle in anyways ! Things are looking so awesome! God is good!!!! Well only two more weeks before I'm shipped off! Heehee!! Actually I plan on leaving on June 15th or 20th. I still need around $200 more monthly to have all my living acquirements taken care of. I know this is what God wants me to do and so I know the money will come in but its so stressful waiting. It's hard because I sold my car and quit my job already ~I'm getting nervous but I am sooooo excited at the same time.Its hard planning right now because I have been so busy lately. Thank you so much for wanting to be a part in serving God too. I can't wait to return to SF and work for Him! I just visited the base in SF last week, even though my old DTS students were not there or aren't going to be there it still seemed like home! Just walking on the streets was so great! I got to see a couple of my homeless friends and tell them that I will be coming back soon, they were excited about that! I still need around $400-$500 commitment monthly so please be in prayer about that!

Hello everyone!
Sorry for not updating sooner! If ya'll didn't hear I got accepted to go on staff for YWAM SF! I will be living there on the base for two years and will be working with the ministry of 'Missions Adventures'...I will be a leader for groups that come in from Jr.High-College age and will be showing them all the ministries we do there, so that they might go back to there homes and help out there, too. I am so blessed and excited to be a staff member with YWAM in SF!!!!

When I was there for my DTS, I saw how YWAM really does make a difference to these people in the Tenderloin District, and I went home wanting to return back to SF as fast as I could. I sent in my application and got accepted a couple of weeks later ! I have been home for about three months now. Wow time flies by so fast these days. I'm working again at In N Out Burger trying to pay my bills and save up until I leave, which I hope will be in June- right after Joelle's wedding! I just hosted a 'Thank You Dessert Bash' on Sunday for the people who sponsored me and for those who were just interested in learning more about my last DTS trip! It went amazing! I was so surprised at the turnout, as I mostly received RSVPs from those people who weren't able to attend, so I was excited to see about 30+ people show up!!! I just talked with Jana (who went to DTS with me ) a little bit about what we did and what we will be doing now that this it's over. For me this wasn't just a one-time missions trip, but it was the beginning of a lifetime of doing God's work! After DTS was over I knew that I wasn't able to go back to just doing nothing and living as a 'lukewarm' Christian, I knew that God want me to return to SF and serve Him!!! So I am and I'M SO EXCITED about it! It's hard being in the middle of just returning from something great and leaving in a couple of months to something even greater, but what do I do in the mean time? I don't just want to sit around and wait to leave to be able to serve God, I want to do it now...in my own town! That's why I'm trying to be a "big sister" to a young lady and maybe put together some bag lunches and hand those out to the homeless in Gilroy and sharing God's love with them!

Well that's my plan- to return to SF and staff..... I'M SO HAPPY!!!! This is what I'm doing in the mean time and also trying to raise support ....for I can't leave in June until I know for sure I'm taken care of financially for TWO YEARS!!!!
If you are interested making a commitment in supporting me monthly- or perhaps a one-time gift- then please let me know as soon as possible!

There are three ways you can do this:

You can send the money to me, for I have a second bank account just for my YWAM funds.
Send the monthly support to MHBC offices, for I will be having an account with them again and every month they will send me the money at the base. This way it's tax-deductible, too.

BACK at home.....home sweet home......

HELLO FRIENDS AND FAMILY!!!!
It's been almost a month since being back in Morgan hill and home.
Let me first thank you ALL for your prayers and support.
My time in SF was amazing and so overwhelming at the same time. OVERSEAS: wow what a time i had. Thailand was wonderful. I LOVE THE PEOPLE there. They are sooo happy to see 'white' people. lol. We stayed next to the Thailand YWAM base in Bangkok which is where the campus students stay, kinda like dorm rooms for the christian boys and girls. It's called BJD!We stayed in Thailand for a whole month, which felt like only a week because the time flew by. We did so many different ministry's along side from hanging with the Thais at BJD, wow what a experience it was!!!Our ministry's contained of going to the slums and playing with the kids, going to the worlds biggest sex places in Bangkok and sharing God with the boy's and girl's prostitutes and just showing them that they too are Gods children and we care about them for who they are. WE also had 'open minstry' where we just prayed or asked God what He wanted us to do that day.We also had days off which were spent at fun places in Thailand such as the ALLIGATOR farm, where we rode elephants , held baby tigers and fed the alligators. !!!! So exciting. heheh!!!!
Vietnam:
Very different from Thailand, alot of the people there frown apon Westerners and only remember the war when they see white people , so they were not always nice or welcoming. That was mostly in Hanoi though and when we visited other places like Da-nang they were much nicer to us. ALL in all, we had a blast! Our ministry there contained of ALOT of silent prayer walks and silly things such as secretly planting scriptures and whatnot. We mostly just showed God's love by loving the people there! We had to wear our bibles and any other christian things on us at ALL TIMES!!!! At the hotels we stay at they tend to go though our stuff and could turn us in if they find all 20 of us with bibles and chirtian things everywhere! It ended up being a very good trip. We got to visit some underground churchs and youth groups. (:
I also got to spend my 21'st birthday there, my team made me feel very special that day (: Even a couple people from the underground church got to come and join me for dinner!

MY trip was very great and we got to plant some seeds there, I cant wait to see what God is going to do through those seeds(:
It was hard leaving the Thais and even harder when the time came to say good bye to my team mates a week after we got back to AMERICA! Tears and much LONG hugs came after the graduation in SF! I DID IT! I finished my DTS and it was amazing. God has showed me so much!!!! HOW HE LOVES!!!!!!

PLEASE still...heheh keep me in your prayers , I am hoping to return back to SF and staff there for a two year commitment. I need to keep raising money and keep TRUSTING in God!

FINAL POSTING!!!!
This week is going to be crazy. We leave saturday! AH I'm stressed out. Keep me in your prayers for the teams saftey and I tend to worry ALOTTTTT, so that would be great if ya'll could pray for me because I'm kinda nervous.. This thursday is Thanksgiving and each person at the base gets to invite one person off the streets to join us as a guest. It's going to be so much fun, over 150 people are coming for our Thanksgiving feaist. YUMMY. All day we packed and wieghed our suitcases. It had to be under 45 pounds. So stressfull. All the boys helped the girls pack because we were packing way more then we should have. I now only have 10 shirts for 2 whole months. CRAZY. They helped me alot though because then to show us how heavy they are and how we are to carry it and walk so far, we went on a little hike up the crazySF hills. SO HARD. After we got back to the base I downsized on everything. So hard packing light and for 2 months. I did it though (:

HELLO FRIENDS!
Holy kal-molly!!!!! It's been so long since I last updated. I'm so very sorry. Well anyways the last couple weeks have been very deep and very emotional. Last week we learned on how to intensely study the bible with our speaker Art collins. He was great, he bought us donuts everyday for class. This week we studied on the holy spirit and evangelism. Saturday we spent all practicing for our dancing and drama skits that we will perform this week at Cumberland -( A local church in China town ) we will also be doing these skits and dances during our outreach. It's been a very long week because I have been sick ): YES.... i do miss my mom !
Okay so this Saturday we are performing for Cumberland all day then next weekend is our off weekend. My friend Kate and I are going to be coming home for the weekend, we will be celebrating Thanksgiving since I will be in SF on the actual day. THEN that next weekend we leave for ASIA!!!!!! (: I'm so excited. I can't wait. I will hopefully write more to you guys soon. Sorry it took forever. It's been so busy here and the day's fly by so fast!

THIS CRAZY WEEK

Hello family,
This week has been intense. Our speaker this week is talking on 'plum line' which is going deep. Forgiving and asking forgiveness to God and those you hurt , for things that are burdening you down. It's really deep stuff. last Saturday was the prayer walk. It ended up being 19 miles long. I only got through 1/2 of it but I did all the hill's and climbing. First hill I was walking up i twisted my ankle and went down. It wasn't that painful ( but still hurt ) so I kept going. Then my hip popped out and would go back in. Going up the hill's were rough as it was but every step i took i cried out in pain, sobbing the whole way up twin peaks. It was horrible. I ended up returning back to the base and rested the rest of the 3 hr. left. Before i went back I got to take a really cool picture of this huge cross. ( there's a story behind that.) It was so awesome to see the whole view of San Francisco and that big ol' cross.

There's also a picture of Earl and I! He's one of my really good street friend's. I really adore him.

For our ministry we went to hippie hill again. We are starting to go every Wednesday now. This week was really awesome. As soon as we got there we met this man who showed us around and introduced us to everyone. I mean once you live there in that park and hangout all day smoking you become friends with everyone! So he knew allot of people and now we do too (:
I also met this one guy that Jana and I talked to for about a good hour. We just got to share about why we were there and also about PropK. He didn't know all the facts about that so he was about to vote yes but we got to actually share with him the truth about it ans now he's rethinking his vote. It's so awesome to see God work through others and what you do. It was a great ministry day. long week......of longness!

Hey ya'll,
I'm so sorry it's been a while since i last wrote. These couple of last week's have been going by so very fast! It's sad to think I only have 4 more months ): sad day! So last week we learned about Tabernacle and Justice/Intimacy and for this week we are learning about the city's and why God calls us to city's allot. It's strange to learn about but you learn interesting things that you would have never thought about before. This Saturday we are going on a freaking huge prayer walk! We are walking across SF, no joke it's a 12 mile walk.
That's going to hurt my leg's really bad ): ouch!
hahah! I have had a blast being here learning more about our awesome Lord!
This last weekend was our off weekend. I went home for less then 24 hours but still being in Morganhill I missed my home, here in SF! I miss and love you all!
I'm sorry about not writing more. Hopefully this next week wont be so long.

Hello Guys,
It's me again! Another week of awesomeness! ( if that's even a word )
hahaha! This week we learned all about spiritual warfare. It has been super neat to learn all kinds of great stuff. Our speaker was Dean Sherman on tape, but he is coming tonight to talk about grace! It's going to be great stuff.

Our group does a lot of stuff here regarding human trafficking and we even have a program focused just on women who are trafficked here in SF, called 'Justice matters'! SF is one of the biggest city's of human trafficking. We went to the premiere of 'CALL AND RESPONSE'. It's a film about the world's 27 million most terrifying secrets! About real modern-day slavery. It's so sad to think and know that there are these things going on right here in America! Here's the website for that if you want to learn more about it www.callandresponse.com . I also very much encourage you all to go see the movie. ALL the proceeds go to CALL AND RESPONSE which help get the girls, children and young boys out of slavery and sex trafficking. There's a movie theater in San Jose that plays this movie. It comes out this weekend! We also learned about Prop K . It seems like a good thing, like it protects sex slaves. But in terms it actually prevents police from investigating into cases of human trafficking. Vote no on PROP K... and that is all I have to say about that (:

I'm excited about Dean Sherman coming to speak to us. He is a great speaker, I adore his lectures! This weekend we have mostly off. I'm hoping to get in some much needed rest!

Can you believe it's been a whole week since I last updated ya'll? I'm very sorry about that!
It's been super busy here. Every week there's a new speaker that come's to speak on a different topic. This week was Debby Wiley and she spoke on ' hearing God's voice ' . It's been very awesome to find out God speaks to you in all different kinds of ways! I guess I never realized it before. It's been emotional also. My weekly ministry is evangelism, this week Jana W. was in charge of heading it up. So she spent the whole after noon ( Wednesday )baking cookies and then we went out and handed some of the homeless and other people on the streets cookies. Each bag had about 3 cookies and a bible verse card. We got to share what the verse meant and prayed with the people who wanted it. It was strange to see that some people wouldn't take the cookies knowing who we were. It was still a blessing getting to give out some thing with our prayers as well. This week went by so very fast. Each day we do something different after our daily classes. Each Friday night we go out with jugs of hot chocolate and cups and hand out cups of hot coco (with prayer attached of course (: !)
This Friday it was really exciting ! We went down a dark allay ( that I was a little afraid of ) and handed out some coco to the people hiding out doing drugs. We met this one lady who was smoking ,even though she didn't trust our coco we got pray with her and she said she was going to come visit our YWAM base. I hope She will get to talk to some of our staff some more about God!

On Saturday's and Sunday's ( for the most part ) are our day off. Saturday nights we always have a dance party! So fun! Today my family came to see me, they took me to the wharf and we ate at ' the rain forest cafe' so very yummie! It was great to get to see my family. Right now I am at the laundry mat doing a very big load.

Well I have a book report due tomorrow , so I better get started on that!

This fun weekend.....

Hey everyone,
This week was awesome. Each week we have a new speaker and this week as I had said before was Blake. I learned very much. It was so great to experience new things with the Lord. I'm really excited about this week , about "Hearing Gods voice".

This weekend was awesome. Saturday we went to the Golden gate park, Botanical gardens. SO FUN! We walked around and prayed for each of the Country's we passed. After a couple of hours of that almost all of the group stayed behind , singing , playing and just having a blast in the park!
(I have so many fun pictures...cant wait to show ya'll ) Then we went to IN N OUT for dinner. Some of the group have never had it before. (: I felt like singing reunited. hahaha ! That night we all ( dtsERS & staff ) went down in the basement with a disco light, strobe light and ROCKING music for a 80's night! EVERYONE dressed 80's and everything. It was super fun! ( yet again, I took 200 pictures ) teehee! SO FUN! I had a great night dressing up and dancing with all my friends. (:

Today was Sunday,
We went to a new church called the ' hot dog' church. (I guess they used to give out hotdogs after each service.) It was okay, I'm not sure if I am going to pick this church or last week's church. They both were very good.
Then we went to pizza for lunch and did laundry. Right now is free time and I just thought I will update ya'll with my happy life here in SF!

Be praying for me with finances. The plane tickets got raised so it's going to be about six hundred more dollar's then I have.Plus I realized that I have no spending money for lunch on sundays and laundry day's.... not to mention spending money in SE ASIA !

YAY!!!! I have so many fun pictures already , it's great..... Today was super exciting and a real big eye opener to see how YOU really do need to listen for God's voice . I realized that I was listening to God when He told me to come here. Trusting in God , that He does know what He's doing has been confirmed too. Trusting in God has a big part in how I got here .
See, when I first realized that God wanted me to join a YWAM I wanted to do a Japan or Australia DTS. When I finally WANTED to listen to God , I realized that He was telling me to do SF DTS for months. God speaks to you in many ways and you really need to be praying to hear His voice and listen to it as well.
I was shocked to hear the speaker speak about this , because God did show me this and when I realized that I need to fallow Him and do what He wants from me and not what I want , Well let's just say this week was really exciting that He confirmed I was really suppose to be here. God's so awesome and I am excited to learn more and become one with God!

Hello ya'll,
This week has been amazing. I cannot describe how awesome it is here. We walked almost everywhere this weekend. It was so fun exploring everything and making this my city. (Besides my foot being swollen from all the walking.) Today was our first lecture The speaker was great , his name is Blake Mattock . He spoke on being a poser in life and how your actions look towards non Christians. Very deep. Be patient with me for just a little more longer. This first week was so emotional and long but at the same time it went by so fast. I'll write more when i find time, sorry it's been so busy here!

Hello family and friends!
I miss and love you all!
It has been awesome so far! I share a room with 5 other girls, this has been interesting getting ready in the morning with only one mirror(:
God has been great at making me very comfortable with everything so far! We get up each morning at 7am for breakfast and then we have choires , class and mission work.

Okay,
So Today we just finished class early so i have free time till lunch. We usually have class in the mornings after breakfast and choirs. My choir is to clean up the class room which means take out empty cups and vacume the floor and just straighten up. Different lectures every day this week. We first started off explaining everything thats going to be going on and going through the gidelines. We each said our testimony's which took about 3 DAYS total for staff and dtsERS to talk.I realized listening to everyones backgrounds and how they came to know the Lord and how they got here, I am very blessed by how I was raised and stuck with God. Right now its been so great and I am starting to love everyone here! Theres a couple homeless men that we made friends with, infact the 2nt day here we jumped right into reaching out to others and went into 5 small groups to go out and ask people certain questions! It was awesome hearing different answers and talking to these street people one on one!
Everyone of these students here with me are so different. Some are from Kentucky, Ohio, Florida, Canada, Switzerland, Washington and even a couple from good ol' California! It's so awesome because even though they are all so different they still have one thing in common with everyone, A passion for God and to show His love to others!

All of this is super hard to explain and I hope you understood how amazing it is!

OFF TO THE BIG CITY!

Hi, this is Carrianne's mom.

Today was the day we took Carrianne to YWAM, San Francisco. Jo'elle came along with us, which was a tremendous blessing to us all! Coming into the city was somewhat of a shock to mom (me, even though I was born there!) but everyone else seemed perfectly fine with it.

Glide Memorial Church is directly across the street, and it was lunch time... hundreds (seemed like more!) were lined up for a block or more for a meal. The sidewalk right outside YWAM's front entrance was full and bustling... homeless, mentally ill, prostitutes and drug addicts, not meaning to stereotype, that's what we were told. This was hard for me to realize that my baby was going to be living here! I met Regina, selling a street newspaper. She was friendly and had a beautiful smile. God is good.

We were taken on the 'grand tour' by Rhonda. She is married to Ben, and they are the facilities leaders. The staff was wonderful, happy people. Carrianne's fellow DTS'ers were also a lively and friendly bunch. My heart was set somewhat at ease, realizing that God is in control, He loves EVERYONE that will come across my daughters path, and He has a wonderful and exciting plan for her life! We are so proud of her!

Sunday, Carrianne and Jena were commissioned off by MHBC. Pastor Dave brought the girls up during both services, asked them questions about their mission with YWAM and the ensuing outreach to Viet Nam and Thailand, and prayed over them with the elders. Thank you, Morgan Hill Bible Church for your support and love and prayers! You guys are awesome!

I am super excited, really nervous too. (:
This week is super busy, last week of work along with last week to hangout with buddy's. I have allot of dinner/coffee plans wit people. Yay, I cant wait. I'm already packed and am just dieing to do that last batch of laundry so I can zip up my bags! My baby TyTy left for Mexico on vacation along with my sister and brother in-law . I wont see them again before I go. I'm going to miss that kid.
Well I can't wait to see what God has in plan for me..... exciting!
I'll be really busy this week so I'll next update this once I get settled into the base!

FROM THE INSIDE OUT

Hello everyone,
Three more weeks till I leave. I am super excited about it but really nervous too. I started my packing list. I know that sounds funny to do three weeks ahead of time, but I have never been on this long of a trip before. I'm starting to realize and set aside all the things I wear the most so I pack ONLY what I need. The list is mostly done.... with a few things I add as I see something laying around that I might need. So far it's looking good. Packing light is going to be the hardest. Anyone has any tips for me? Well I'm doing really well on my support, still need some more though but I know that God will provide me with just the right amount that I need.
To Trust is the hardest because I'm always worrying about something or another. (:

Hello Everyone,

As most of you already know I am leaving this September for my YWAM (Youth With A Mission ) trip. For those of you who don't know, let me explain what I will be doing! I leave September 15th for Francisco for four months. During this time I will attend DTS (discipleship training school). I will be trained to disciple people and tell others about God, to grow closer to Him and become a stronger child of God! After those four months of training and loving the people of San Francisco, I will then do my outreach portion of the trip. I will leave for two months and travel to South East Asia! I am so very excited about this trip and have been praying for years now, to see if this is what God wants from me! Guess what? IT IS!
I have been saving for over a year now with two jobs , and let me tell you ... I thought saving would be easy, but with bills and financial obligations it hasn't always been. I still need to raise more, so if you would like to help me reach my goal for my remaining portion of the trip costs by supporting me financially, that would be a big BLESSING! Please also keep me in your prayers, for this is my first lengthy missions trip and I'm kinda nervous about being away from my home, church , family and friends. Thank you!

30 DAYS TO GO!

Hi Everyone!
As you all know, I will be attending the Urban DTS Program (Discipleship Training School) at YWAM- Youth With A Mission, in the Tenderloin District of San Francisco for 4 months, then will be off to somewhere in South East Asia for the following 2 months... and I'm very excited! I would like to use this blog as a way to communicate with all my friends and family, and to keep you updated on all that I'm doing, my prayer needs, support needs and so on!
